Shields & Plaques

Shields and plaques for club honours, annual awards and small prizes, with engraving included in the price. Some are boards with room for 15 names, others are 100mm mini shields a child can carry home. Wooden shields and plaques suit a clubhouse wall, and many take a 1 inch centre, so your sport or subject sits front and centre.

12 trophies. Engraving included on all of them.

Shields that record a list of names

If you want one award to hold a run of winners, choose by the number of plates. These are the two record pieces:

  • Annual Presentation Shield: 255mm has 7 record plates, 305mm has 9, 355mm has 11 and 410mm has 13.
  • Perpetual Presentation Plaque: a record board at 250 x 200mm with 12 plates, or 300 x 225mm with 15.

Count the plates as seasons. Thirteen plates means thirteen years of winners before you need a new one. Both carry a 1 inch centre, so a bowls club or a golf society can show its sport. The Perpetual Plaque also makes a good Employee of the Month board for a business. Ask us about adding names in future years, on 0121 667 0310.

Keepsake shields and plaques

  • Mahogany Shield Plaque: 100mm to 180mm, from £10.75. There is no separate plate here, as the wording is engraved on the silver front, below the centre.
  • Wreath Centre Plaque: 100mm, 125mm or 150mm, in Light Oak, Mahogany or Blue, from £6.75.
  • Presentation Salver: a nickel plated tray from 125mm to 250mm, engraved directly in the middle, for retirements and long service.

Mini shields at 100mm

For handing out in numbers, mini shields are the most affordable option here at £4.95. There are rugby, cricket, darts and equestrian designs, plus a Mini Shield School Award in 15 designs. Four of those are coloured stars, which suit red, blue, green and yellow school houses. Rugby's plate is a slim 50 x 12mm, so keep the wording to a name and year.

Plate wording for honours pieces

A record plate is small, so keep it to the year and the name. The main plate holds the title. A slash means a new line:

  • Riverside Bowls Club / Club Champions
  • 2026 / P. Reeve
  • Employee of the Month / March / Sara Dean
  • Presented to / Margaret Hall / 25 Years' Service

Choosing between a shield and a cup

A shield hangs on the wall, while a cup needs a shelf or cabinet. Clubs with a bar or function room often prefer a shield they can display all year. If you want the classic handover, see trophy cups. Businesses should visit corporate awards, and schools can go to school trophies or our schools page. Our engraving page explains how plate wording is cut.

Shields & Plaques: your questions

How many names will a record shield hold?
The Annual Presentation Shield holds 7, 9, 11 or 13 plates, depending on size. The Perpetual Presentation Plaque holds 12 or 15 plates. Choose the number of years you want it to last before it needs replacing.
Do shields take a sport centre?
The Annual Presentation Shield, Perpetual Presentation Plaque, Mahogany Shield Plaque and Wreath Centre Plaque all have a recess for a centre, included in the price. The mini shields and the salver do not take one.
Is there a shield for a whole class or team?
Yes. The 100mm mini shields are made for that, at £4.95 with engraving included, and every plate can carry a different name. Ten or more in one order brings the discount to 5%.
Where does the wording go on the Mahogany Shield Plaque?
It has no separate plate. The wording is engraved directly on the silver front below the centre, and the area ranges from 35 x 20mm on the smallest size to 70 x 40mm on the largest.
